Activités 2010
Réunions :
• In 2010, the Czech National Committee of Historians took part in organizational/programme settings of the Czech participants at various sections of XXI. International Congress of Historical Sciences, held in Amsterdam. In particular, it organized and followed the JOINT SESSIONS 10 Section, devoted to Trade and Civilization from Ancient Times to Present (organized by CNCH, Korean National Committee and International Association for Economic and Social History). Its Chief organizer was Prof. Dr Petr Vorel, PhD., Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, University of Pardubice Czech Republic. Please note that Prof. Vorel is currently also President of the Association of Historians of the Czech Republic (Historical Club 1872).
• In 2010, CNCH participated also in programme preparations and realization of the First Biennale of Czech and Polish Historians, held in accordance with the Agreement on Cooperation of the Czech and Polish Historians (April 2009). Biennale was named “Bilans otwarta” (The Opened Balance) and was held on May 12-13, 2010, in Krakow, Poland, as an open professional historical seminary. Its chief organizer was Polish Society of Historians (Polskie Towarzystwo Historyczne), in cooperation with the Union of Czech Historians and CNCH (on behalf of the Czechs) as well as with Pedagogical University Krakow and the Polish-Czech Scientific Union in the Institute of History of Krakow Pedagogical University. The conference was held in four sections ranged chronologically. These sections were devoted to the dispute on interpretation models and other selected issues of Polish and Czech history, as well as on bilateral Polish – Czech relations in medieval and modern ages and during the 19th and 20th centuries. The meeting introduced also a new cyclus of historical sessions with participation of historians not only from the two mentioned countries, but also other historians from neighbouring countries. The Krakow seminary was attended also by historians from Slovakia, representing the administration of the Slovak Historical Society. On behalf, of the CNCH, following personalities took place at the Biennale: Prof. Jaroslav Pánek, CNCH President, Prof. Jirí Kocian, CNCH Secretary, and Dr Oldrich Tuma, Member of CNCH Executive.
• In close cooperation with the Union of Czech Historians, the CNCH administration participated in preparations and discussions on nomination suggestions of the new CNCH members. The final proposal on individual composition of the new Czech National Committee of Historians should be approved by 2011 by the Council for International Relations of the Czech Academy of Sciences that represents the Czech Academy of Sciences as trust granter of the national committees. The discussions and final approval in the Council for International Relations should not only enable the proper activities of the new appointed Committee, but also its participation at the X. Conference of Czech Historians (to be held in Ostrava, September 2011) as well as in preparations for the forthcoming International Congress of Historical Sciences, convened to China in 2015.
• CNCH participated, in cooperation with the committee of the Union of Historians of the Czech Republic, in talks concerning conclusion of an agreement on cooperation with the Slovak Historical Society, to be signed in Bratislava in 2010 December.
• CNCH in cooperation with the Union of Czech Historians participated in programme/agenda preparations of the individual sections of the X. Conference of Czech Historians to be held in Ostrava in 2011 September.
Publications :
• Cooperating with the Union of Historians, the CNCH participated in preparations for editing the Proceedings of the Czech section of the German Historians' Congress held in Dresden in 2008 September. These proceedings (a miscellany) should be published under the title Neue tschechische Interpretationen der Fragen des tschechisch-deutsches Zusammenlebens by the Union of Historians of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Jan Evangelista Purkyne University at Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic.
Programme 2011
Réunions :
• In 2011, CNCH shall participate in preparations of the Second Biennale of Czech and Polish Historians, organized by Palacký University Olomouc and Institute of Contemporary History Prague. This conference should be focused at certain essential issues of contemporary history of Central and Eastern Europe in 20th century. Both in organization and programme adjustments, the representatives of the Slovak Historical Society are awaited to take their part, being themselves a contract partner of the Polish and Czech Unions of historians.
• CNCH is to participate, too, in programme adjustments of the X. Conference of
Czech Historians to be held in Ostrava in 2011 September.
Publications :
• CNCH is to participate in publishing of proceedings of papers presented at the First Biennale of Czech and Polish Historians held in Krakow on May 12-13, 2010. Union of Czech Historians, in cooperation with University of Thorn (Torun), Poland, are designated as editors-in chief.
